Keep an open mind

Have you ever felt people around aren’t any smarter than you? It really happened to me a few months ago. However, this leads to arrogance and makes you start ignoring other people’s opinions. This cloudy vision makes you fail to see the reality as it is and believe everyone is just lucky. Thank god, I have learned to ignore these intrusive thoughts because it is clear that feeding your greed isn’t good at all.

I wanted to write about it but couldn’t compact the conclusion in a clear sentence. Yesterday I came across Apple CEO John Ternus commencement speech at Upenn, this quote by him exactly captures what I have learned from my case:

“Always assume you’re as smart as anyone else in the room, but never assume that you know as much as they do. With this mindset, you’ll find the confidence you need to push forward, but more importantly, the humility to ask questions and learn.”
